Abantu bakwaMasuku kuthiwa badlela ndawonye, esithebeni sinye, nabantu bakwaNdwandwe. Abantu bakwaNdwandwe phela bangabokudabuka emaGudu, okuyigama lezintaba ezazakhele umfula obizwa ngoPhongolo. Yingakho nje phakathi kwezithakazelo zakwaNdwandwe kubalwa iGudu, okuyilapho abakwaNdwandwe badabuka khona. Uma kukhulekwa nje khona kuyaye kuthiwe “Ndwandwe waseGudu” noma kuthiwe nina bas’ “eGudunkomo”.
Abantu bakwaNdwandwe bahlukene ngezindlu njengoba kuyinhlala yenza kithina sizwe samaZulu ngoba ukukhula kwesibongo noma umndeni othize kukhipha izindlu ezahlukene zozalo lwandawonye olugcina luhlukene ngezigodi nangezindawo okwakhiwe kuzo.
Indlu yaseKhohlo yakwaNdwandwe nokuyindlu eyaziwa ngokuthi ngeyakwaNxumalo, izinze ngasentabeni ebizwa ngokuthi iTshaneni, bude buduze nomfula uMkhuze okuyinamhlanje sekunedolobha khona elibizwa ngokuthi nguMkhuze.
Njengoba sishilo ukuthi zihlukene izindlu, saphinde senaba ngendlu esesandleni sobunene sawo amaNdwandwe, manje ke sesenaba ngendlu okungeyesandla sokhohlo, okuyindlunkulu yakhona eMandwandweni. Indlunkulu yakwaNdwandwe lena yona engasokhohlo yakhe ngaseTshaneni, okuyingakho nje amaliba okhokho bakwaNdwande ehlukene ngokuthi kube khona awakwaNdwandwe okungokhokho bakwaNxumalo eseGudu, bese amanye amaliba wona kube ngawaseTshaneni.

Siluhlubile udlubu ekhasini ekuqaleni kwalengxoxo, saweneka umlando wabantu bakwaMasuku ukuthi bahlobene nabakwaNxumalo. Endlunkulu yaseMandwandweni kwaphuma enye ingxenye eyagcina ibizwa ngoMasuku. Ukuphuma kwabantu bakwaMasuku kwasukela enkosini yakwaNdwandwe uLanga wokuqala, okunguyena owaphimisa izwi kwenziwe umsebenzi khona kwaNdwandwe. Kubikwa ukuthi laba asebebizwa ngoMasuku namhlanje bapheka ukumaya ebusuku, inkosi okuthiwa yakudla yaze yacaba namathambo, ibe yona leyonkosi yayikade ibeke izwi lokuthi akungadliwa ngobumnyama, ebusuku. Njengoba labo bantu babepheke ebusuku, okwakuwukuphikisana nesinqumo sayo inkosi yamaNdwandwe, inkosi yabe isibakhomba indlela labobantu ukuthi bahambe kwaNdwandwe, lokho-ke okwaba yikhona okwaholela ekuphumeni kwesibongo sakwaMasuku, ngoba bapheka ebusuku okwakuyisenzo esasiphikisana nezwi lenkosi. Yingakho nje ngesikhathi sokubusa kwenkosi uZwide kaLanga isibongo sakwaMasuku sasezivele sesikhona. Iningi labantu bakwaMasuku lahamba nenkosi uMzilikazi, inkosi yakwaSokhumalo.
Amaqhawe akwaMasuku
UMadlenya
Emlandweni wakwaMasuku sithola ukuthi mabili amaqhawe akhona adumile. Iqhawe lokuqala lakwaMasuku kwakuyilelo elalaziwa ngegama lobunsizwa kuthiwa nguMadlenya, esibikelwa ngaye ukuthi wabe engamathe nolimi neqhawe lakwaKhumalo uMzilikazi kaMashobane. Ngokomlando siyathola ukuthi uMadlenya waba ngomunye wezinsizwa ezaqokwa yiLembe ukuba ziyohlasela abeSuthu bakaHanesi. Kuyatholakala ukuthi leli kwakuyicebo leLembe lokuyobulalisa uMzilikazi ngabeSuthu bakaHanesi ababakhe eNtabazwe.
Ngaleso sikhathi uMadlenya kanye nezinye izinsizwa babe sebekade bagcina ukulwa izimpi. Lezo zinsizwa uMzilikazi waziqamba igama elithi “iMbozisamahlanga”. Wanqotshwa uHanesi kuleyompi, zadliwa izinkomo zakhe. Kwathi uma kugqabuka igoda phakathi kukaShaka noMzilikazi, uMadlenya wagcinela ngasohlangothini lukaMzilikazi. Ngesikhathi uZulu ehlasela amaNtungwa izikhawu zaze zaba zimbili, uMadlenya wayelwa ngasohlangothini lwawo amaNtungwa. Engani phela uMzilikazi wayezalwa yintombi yakhona kwaNdwandwe ogama lakhe kwakunguNompethu. UMadlenya wasala empini yaseNtumbane, okwakuyimpi yesibili amaNtungwa ayilwa noZulu.
UMbiko
UMadlenya lona ke belu yena wazala uMbiko kaMadlenya. Sihletshelwa ukuthi uMbiko wagcina eganiselwe indodakazi kaMzilikazi kaMashobane ogama layo kwakunguZinkabi, ngenxa yokuthi uMzilikazi wayeneme ngobuqhawe bukaMbiko. UMbiko wabe eyingqwele yoqobo njengoba nje wayengumholi webutho elibizwa ngokuthi “uZwangendaba”. Kuthiwa lelibutho lalaziwa kakhulu ngokugqama kwalo ngenkathi lizidlela amahlanga kumabhunu kaNdaleka, okwaba ngemuva kwalesosenzakalo lapho uMzilikazi abe eseganisela indodakazi yakhe uZinkabi, kulo iqhawe uMbiko.
ULobengula
Kuthe ngemuva kokuhamba kwesikhathi wakhothama uMzilikazi, ngemuva kwalokho kwavuka impi yomndeni esizweni sakwaKhumalo ngaphansi kukaMzilikazi. Owayengu ndunankulu wezwe ngalesosikhathi, uMncumbatha, ekanye nezinye izikhulu zombuso ngaphansi kwakhe uMzilikazi owayeshonile, ukuba athathe izintambo zobukhosi. Lokhu bakwenza kwaziwa kahle ukuthi uLobengula wayengesiyona indlalifa, ngakho ngokwesintu kwakungeyena okwakumele ukuba athathe izintambo. Abaziyo bathi inkosana kaMzilikazi okuyiyona okwakumele ithathe isihlalo kwakunguNkulumana yena owayengekho ngesikhathi sokukhothama kukayise ngenxa yokuthi wayedingisiwe, ngamanye amazwi wabe exoshiwe. UNkulumana wayelamana noZinkabi emhlane. Kuthiwa bathi uma bemdonsa ngendlebe ngendaba yokubekwa kukaLobengula njengenkosi ekubeni kwakumele kubekwe yena, uNkulumana wathukuthela wagana unwabu, waphaka impi wahlasela uMbiko wamehlula. Okuvelayo wukuthi uMbiko wafa ngokubhokodwa nguDliso kaMkhithika owayeyiqhawe likaLobengula. Leyompi yalwelwa endaweni yakwaBulawayo eZimbabwe, emfudlaneni owagcina uqanjwe ngayo leyompi kwathiwa ngumfula waseGazini. Lokho phela kwakusukela ekuthini ngemuva kwaleyompi izinkubela zageza amanxeba azo kuwo lowo mfula, okwabe sekushintsha umbala wamanzi njengoba phela ayesehlangene negazi lalezozinkubela.
Izibongo zikaMbiko kaMadlenya
Njengawo wonke amaqhawe asemlandweni wabantu abangaphansi kwamaNguni, uMbiko kaMadlenya naye unezibongo ezisuka ezigigabeni ayeke wabhekana nazo ekukhuleni kwakhe kanye nasemagalelweni akhe. Lezi zibongo zazihaywa yimbongi yakhe eyayaziwa ngokuthi uThuso Msimanga. Ziza kanje ke izibongo zikaMbiko kaMadlenya:
